Avocado Chocolate Mousse

Perfect mid-week dessert or an indulgent treat, this avocado mousse is better for you than traditional mousse and a lot easier to make. If the word avocado along with chocolate makes you frown and run, don’t! The chocolate completely over powers the taste of the avocados so if you didn’t know, you would have no idea an avocado was used. The avocados are used completely for their smooth and creamy texture.

So next time your craving something chocolatey and you have a few ripened avocados give this mousse a go.

2 Small or 1 large Avocado
1/3 Cup / 2.7 oz / 80 ml Milk
2 Cups / 7 oz / 200g Dark Chocolate
1 Table Spoon / 0.3 oz / 8 g Cocoa Powder
3 Table Spoon / 2.2 oz / 64 g Honey

Bring a pot of water to the boil. Roughly cut up the dark chocolate and place into a heat proof bowl, place the bowl on top of the pot of boiling water to melt the chocolate. Once the chocolate had melted remove from the heat and leave to cool while preparing the remaining ingredients. Cut the avocados in half and remove the pip and skin. Place into a food processor with the milk, honey, cocoa powder, and melted chocolate. Blend until the mousse comes together. At first it will look crumbly and separated. If you would like a thinner mousse consistency just add more milk. Serve in ramekins with mint leaves, strawberries and grated chocolate. This mousse should last in the fridge for a few days.
